Banana Connector Plug
Do need any banana clips/plugs?
I’m going to buy a Onkyo 606 and tannoy 5.1 SFX surrounds sounds hoome cinema set up. This is my first move into separates.
In addition to speaker cable do i need any extra connectors?
With the 606 you can use banana clips, pin clips, spade connectors or just a direct connection of the speaker wire itself. Personally I don’t use connectors because I think the prices are a ripoff ($20 for 4 little clips?), but you can go with any of those options. I found the Tannoy SFX 5.1 speakers but I can’t find a picture of the back of them. What kind of connectors you *can* use depends on the connection ports in the back of the speakers. My Polk RM6750 set has spring clips so I can only use pin or bare wire connections. I would bet your Tannoy speakers are the same. So you have a lot of options here–basically anything on the 606 end and then either bare wire or pin connectors on the speaker end.
Careful buying your speaker wire. It’s a predatory industry. Do yourself a favor and review this great page:

Personally I use speaker wire I bought at the home remodeling store for $0.47/foot. It’s basically just 16 gauge electrical lamp cord and it works just fine.
