Connect VCR to Computer?
What I want to do is record something off my computer onto a VHS tape for a friend. Is that possible? I have an Asus P5B Deluxe motherboard which has an SPDIF Coaxial and Optical out port and firewire (not sure if you can use either of those for this…). My video card is a GeForce 7950gt which has S-Video/HDTV out on it. I need to record sound and audio…
Try this:
Look up the Adaptec Gamebridge, and see if you can get one (mine was about 15 bucks at Fry’s Electronics) They were made to be able to play your console games on your PC, but you can also use them to record video. It comes with and s-video connector and an RCA connector (yellow, red, white) and their Intervideo Home Theatre software to use the little device. However, the software also includes built-in video recording software, which automatically makes the video into digital. Just hook up your vcr to the gamebridge, hit record (and play on the VCR) and presto! your own cheap little transfer unit!
Also, the Gamebridge runs off of USB, so no worries on having the right graphics and/or capture card.
