What should I invest in?
I’m a tech savy guy! I love to have all the latest gadgets. Right now, I’m in a bit of a stump. I want to invest in a new hdtv. Right now, I have a big ass 65″ rear projection 1080p DLP hdtv. It is place not even 10 feet infront of me in my bedroom, as I am sitting on a very uncomfortable futon playing my games, watching movies, and playing sports.
I want a 50″ plasma which would cost me $999. 1080p, 600htz, I saw it at best buy, looks amazing! And the price is LOW compared to these LED tv’s I had my heart set on until a guy told me plasma is the way to go for the way I’m going to use the tv. With the tv being this low, I can afford a nice comfortable leather couch to go along with it.
Or should I buy the new imac? In college, we work with them in my communications major. I just have a lame hp laptop that heats up way to fast which I can’t view any media without my laptop over heating and slowing down my computer.
I’d get the iMac.
Those plasma TV’s do have superior color saturation but there’s a reason why they are so cheap, they’re yesterday’s news, of course since you went with rear projection, you have an affinity for cool but obsolete toys. The plasma TV’s are heavy and consume a lot of power.
Right now the race is for the 3D TV’s that don’t require 3D glasses. The most likely approach will be a combination of LED and LCD to provide a lenticular grating such that each eye views a different portion of the screen, the grating would have to be dynamic or we would be able to see it as vertical stripes hence LCD.
As a college student, the last thing you need is something big, heavy and expensive to run. You’ll get more use out of the computer while the TV’s are just more likely to distract you from what you need to be doing.
