Dual Link Cable
Can I connect Single link DVI-D LCD Montior (Dell1901FP) to Dual link DVI-D video card with single link cable?
Correcting previous question that I posted:
I just built a new PC with PNY Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX+ 512 MB video card. I have LCD monitor (Dell 1901 FP) and when trying to connect those I cant see anything on the screen. Upon further research i found out that my video card has DVI-D dual link connector and my monitor has DVI-D single link connector. I am using cable from the monitor (DVI-D single link)
Is that why I don’t see anything? because trying to connect to dual link card with sinlg link cable and monitor? If thats the case, should I buy dual link cable (since its backward compatible with single link) and will it fit in my monitor?
Dual-link DVI cables are indeed backwards-compatible with single-link DVI monitors, but before you spend the money on one, why not try your monitor on another computer?
If your monitor works on another computer, the problem isn’t your monitor. It’s your 9800GTX video card.
