new HDTV flashing red?
HI, I just picked up a 40in LCD Samsung 1080p tv about a month ago. Im having some what of an issue running dvi from my pc to hdmi on my tv. I got a 15ft cable of monoprice.com but when i add the 2nd display(my tv) the picture turns all red looking! I dont know whether its the tv or the cheapo cable i ordered off monoprice.com The cable doesn’t have any ferrite cores on it and I was wondering if that might be the cause of the ‘redness’ im seeing. I read that the ferrite cores on the cable help suppress any kind of interference between whatever you are hooking up. Anyone have any advice?
Red picture flashing is generally caused by the HDCP copyright software locking you out to make sure you are NOT TRYING TO PIRATE MOVIES.
Dual monitor connections can do that, or unknown TV monitors without an EDID or Computer monitors with an Unknown EDID will make your computer’s Video Card (HDCP enabled) or the TV’s (HDCP on always) HDCP lock you out….
You gotta remove the computer monitor for starters….and any other HDMI-connected equipment and ONLY connect to ONE display at a time….And connect it BEFORE you start up the computer too….
Your BETTER setup is to use VGA which doesn’t have HDCP.
