The longer the cable, the higher the impedance the cable will cause.
That’s why in Home Theatre, speaker cables come in different gauges – the thicker ones are for longer distances and or more power being sent.

Make no mistake, your headphone wires are sending both signal and POWER. It is just not as much power as HT wires… but nevertheless it does make some difference.

But will this effect your sound quality??
Probably a little bit @ 5m… the little bit – you won’t be able to tell the difference though.

So Just try it out.
If you’re not happy with it, just get a thicker guage cable – they are available for headphone applications.
