LG TV Hokked up to computer DVI to RGB vs DVI to HDMI?
I have hooked up my computer to an LG 47 inch tv. And i’m having a littled trouble working out which cable looks best. My Graphics card is a 275 gtx with 2 DVI ports and my tv has HDMI or RGB to choose from. So I have a DVI to RGB adapter VS DVI to HDMI adapter.
The pictures look very differnet in quality but its hard to work out which one is best as the RGB looks smoother but no as sharp whereas the HDMI looks sharper but a bii harsh around the edges.
I assumed digital hdmi would be better but now im not so sure.
I can Also activate a few featurse of the tv like true colour and true black if i use hdmi on low resolutions…….

I don’t see how my DVI (computer end) to RGB (TV end) would be forcing it to change back to digital when it reaches the tv as im plugging in in via a rgb port shouldn’t it be the computer forcing digital to analog and then staying analog?
An DVI ot HDMI cable is the best choice, where is is a continuous cable with DVI at one end and HDMI at the other. The problem with using an DVI to HDMI adapter connect to an HDMI cable is that you you have introduced additional connection. Each connection in the signal path degrades the signal.
With and DVI to HDMI cable you keep the video signal digital from end to end, which will give you better signal quality. With the RGB connection, you are forcing the signal to be converted to analog by the computer, only to be converted back to digital when it gets to the HDTV. That is similar to me telling you a store and asking you to tell the same story exactly as it did. You wouldn’t tell it exactly the same way, you will paraphrase some parts, and some feature of the story may be lost entirely.
