Can I hook the Onkyo HT-S4100 to PS3 and HDTV without dvd player?
I was going to use an optical digital cable to connect receiver to ps3 and then PS3 connected to HDTV via HDMI. So in order to listen to the tv in surround I need to switch the optical from the PS3 to the tv. Is this doable or is there an easier way? I don’t want to use a dvd player if I don’t have to.
yes that should work… just get the sound to the amplifier using the optical cable from the ps3 to the amplifier. The get then video to the TV using the HDMI. You SHOULD even be able to use the speakers in your tv if you choose not to use your surround sound.
