Has anyone heard of using and External Hard Drive to store DVD movies for an home entertainment system?
Point being I have over 400 DVD’s and its a pain to look through them all. So i had a crazy idea to put them all on a external hard drive and excessing them and playing them on my TV. Can you retreave information on a external hard drive without using a computer?
I did that with my Tivo.. I plugged the dvd player into the line-in input on the back of the tivo (where the cable box normally goes) and I recorded several dvd’s..
It is identical in quality as the original dvd, the only problems are that it takes awhile to transfer (1:1 transfer rate), and the movies will take up about 4GB each..
