Meter Gold Hdmi
There is a slight buzzing noise coming from the back of my tv what is it?
I have a 3 metre gold plated scart lead connected to my virgin media box and when I disconnet the scart lead from the virgin media box and play a blu ray dvd on my ps3 via a hdmi cable the noise stops.
It seems to be the scart cable but the connections are ‘tight’ and there is no dust etc present. I have tried 3 different scart leads and its not working.
Any ideas what to do to fix the scart problem. I don’t want to go to HDMI as I have to upgrade my subscription.

The speakers are fine with other connections its just when I use the scart.

It’s possible that your virgin media box is not grounded correctly, and is causing a ground loop in your system.
I’m from Canada so I don’t know the specifics about the Virgin Media box. Is is satellite, or through the ground cable?
If it’s satellite then probably your dish is not grounded correctly.
If it’s ground, then the signal cable to your box is probably not grounded correctly.
It’s common for these companies to use cheap cable, and ground things to the wrong places. I have seen the countless times professionally.
**but** the good news is that this is Virgin’s problem. Let them know that their box is the only device that is causing this problem, and that they are not delivering the service to your satisfaction, and that if they want to keep you as a customer they need to solve their problem.
The technician will blame your gear all day long for this problem, but the simple answer is that it is the only piece of gear that you hook up that causes that problem so it their problem exclusively, not yours. Don’t let them talk you out of this.
It may or may not be a grounding issue specifically (it probably is) but even if it isn’t, it’s still their responsibility to fix it.
If they can’t/won’t fix the problem, find another company that will.
