Which one to choose in TV.. LCD or Plasma?

Hi,
I have few questions about which TV I should buy. I have planned to buy a 42 inches or 40 inches TV. My questions are
1) Can I buy a Plasma TV or LCD TV? Which has the best picture quality and brightness
2) What contrast ratio should I look for and which contrast ratio should be the best one for maximum picture quality and brightness
3) I am even ready to go for Full HD(1080P) but I feel that its of no use for nominal usage. I think HD ready TV would be better?
4) I have three Brands in my mind. they are LG, Samsung and Panasonic. Which one shall I go for? Which one has the best picture quality?
Please help me… Thanks…

1) Plasma or Lcd. One major qusetion is do you have a lot of light in the room where you will be watching this tv. If so it would benefit you more to go to Lcd they are less reflective than plasma. I did say less reflective to so when you look at most of the samsung and sony lcds you will see reflection too just not as bad of that of plasma. But if light is not and issue then plasma is definately a better choice. Plasma tvs are always gonna have higher contrast ratios than lcds and more importantly the blacks on a plasma are gonna be much deeper. Panasonic plasmas are great tvs for the money and are only gonna get better they have already added anti-burn in technology and there black levels are almost as good as the elites by pioneer.

2)Contrast ratio. Looking at contrast ratio to by a tv is garbage. there is no set standard on how this is measured so everybody does it differently. and truthfully the average person isnt gonna see a difference unless you look at something that says 2500:1 and 50000:1 side by side.

3)1080p. This is totally up to you if you use blu ray or are planning to get blu ray then personally i would go 1080p just because you gonna spend the money why not get the whole experience. Consider it planning for the future. one day not anytime soon but one day lots more things will do 1080p. Seriously though if you are just using it for everyday hd cable or sat and maybe an upconvert dvd player then by all means stay 720p.

4)Brand. Now this is all preference because all the brands you have mentioned have their ups and downs. Lg has one of the least reflective screens I have seen and they dont sacrifice to much on pictue quality. Samsung lcds are just awesome displays their technology is by far leading the industry if you dont believe me check out their 950 series. Panasonic best bang for your buck. awesome picture nice deep blacks and their anti burn in technology on the plasmas are just a few of their key features.
