16:9
If you get HD then HD channels will be in 16:9. But ordering HD still leaves you access to the existing channels (as not everything out there has an HD counterpart yet). So when watching those channels you’ll still be dealing with a 4:3 image; which you can either stretch to 16:9, zoom to 16:9, or watch pillarboxed at 4:3 (black bars on the left/right). I prefer using zoom to stretch myself. But it depends on the show, I keep the TV remote nearby and switch it up depending on what I’m watching.
Ok, your image is showing you “fat” people because your setting are set to “stretch”. I hate “stretch” and/or “zoom” because this will distort your image.
O do not know who you have service with, but Comcast has a way to change this on the box. You turn off the box and the hit either the “guide” button or the “menu” button and a Dos Screen will appear. Then you need to put your setting to “4:3″ overide. This will fix all your problems. What it does is makes your 4:3 (standard channels/programs) fill the 16:9 screen. No black bars or fat people!!
