Best TV to get with $1200?

Im wanting to get a new TV and i dont want to spend more than 1200 if possible. I have a 36in sanyo right now and have had no problems with it. Walmart has a 50in Sanyo Plasma for 698. or a 52inch LCD Sanyo for 1147. I know alittle about Tvs but is there really that much of a different between those two tvs (720 Plasma vs 1080LCD) to pay that much more for the 52 inch.
Also if there are any other ideas for better tvs for the price thats out there. I want to get at least a 50 inch or close to it.
Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

I like the new 3d tvs. If you are set on your sugestions stick with the LCD just in case you can’t always get a room dark enough for the plasma.
I would suggest Toshiba 52XV648 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz HD LCD TV Cinema Series.

I would go with a Panasonic Plasma rather then one from Sanyo!
Sanyo Plasma’s do not have the features that Panasonic’s have. Even though Panasonic now owns Sanyo!
One feature in particular is the anti-reflective coating on the screen. This dramatically reduces glare! My mother-in-law has a 50″ brand new Sanyo Plasma and it’s like looking into a mirror. Meanwhile, my two year old Panasonic barely reflects anything at all! Plus…Panasonic’s are more well known for being the highest performing and most reliable Plasma TVs!
I definitely recommend the Panasonic that “Niks” suggested! However…if that’s too expensive, go with the S1 or U1 models from Panasonic. You may also want to check out Panasonic new 2010 models.
