I just replaced my old 52 inch lcd tv with a newer model. The old one did not have?
any hdmi outlets so the cable guy hooked it up with colored cables to the dvr/box unit. Now when I try to hook up my new one with hdmi cables it will not take. Is it possible the cable guy programmed my dvr differently when he hooked up the old tv since it had no hdmi? I would really like to watch tv on my new one hooked up thru hdmi. Any ideas? Thanks so much.

Did you set the input on the TV? Through the menu.
Are you using new cables? Chances are the “old” cables aren’t compatible with the new tv. If I were you (and to avoid screwing up everything), I’d call the cable company and ask them to come set up the new tv.
I think the box should automatically recognize the hdmi cable. I know on my tv, I have to change the input to HDMI 1 for it to show the satellite. Try changing the input on the tv…
just try the settings on your new tv first as it may not know you have a hdmi lead connected
what you are asking does not quite make sense to me. you should not need hdmi output from the tele to watch.
you should just connect the cable from your dvr to your tele, then select the right input on your tele (hdmi1 or 2…).
i have never seen a dvr that you can program to use a specific port (cable), they just use them all all the time…you only need to set the tele.
ok reset it if u can but i dont think it should be a problem can u get the signal at every output if ur dvr has an hdmi it should be giving a signal out. so it must be ur telly try different channels and many tvs have an auto tune to hdmi when its connected turn ur tv on and than turn ur dvr on. that way it will auto tune if u have the feature but if not check ur controler they have mode buttons press it a few times it should change ur view to different modes including hdmi. cheers i hope it helps
You may have to go into the dvr menu and turn the hdmi output on. hook the tv up with the colored component cables from the old tv and choose the correct input on the tv menu. with the dvr off and the tv on, push the menu button on the front of the dvr. This should bring up a menu screen. Choose 16:9 for the ration and hdmi for the output (also set the resolution to that of your tv either 1080 or 720p). Now push menu on the dvr to get out of the menu and hook the tv up with hdmi cable. Also, the tv has to be on the hdmi input at this point.
Call the cable company to set up your new tv. It was probobly coax cable to begin with and adapted it to component and now you need HDMI cable. You should have asked them to provide both hook up for future update at the begining. More than likely they didn’t provide it so that you’ll call them again so they could charge you for the service.
