Volume on LCD tv not working?

I have a 52 inch LCD and the volume keeps lowering by itself. If i set it to lets say 18 a few minutes later its down to zero and was wondering if i buy a home theater system will all the volume of the tv be played through the system rather than the tv speakers? oh I have no problems with the picture its only the sound that seems to be the issue.

That would certainly work. However, unless you just want to buy a home theater
I would take the batteries out of the remote to see if you still have the problem. Your remote may be malfunctioning , I had the same thing a few years ago.
you can try if you have mini-compo by plug audio-in and test it first.
