Overusing video games on any television may have a negative effect on the television. With that said, you dont buy a television to not use it. Just make sure to shut it off when not in use and go outside from time to time. LCD televisions have a bulb that is rated for 60000 viewing hours, so dont waste your set by running Halo 3 for 37 consecutive hours. By the way that is an awesome television, Sharp has made some very nice sets this year.
A few things. Play you Xbox as much as you want on this tv. New video games are just like a movie, as everything moves. Second, LCD’s do not use heat to generate the picture, so no burn in will occur.
And last – you do realize 60000 hours at 3 hours a day everyday is 55 years? Please. No tv ever made will last that long. The 60000 hours refers ONLY to the light source on an LCD. Not the power supply, not the tuners, ic chips, scalers, speakers, LCD panel itself or its shutters. Yes LCDs are a long lasting tv – but 10-15 years (20000 hours?) is a more reasonable estimate.
