LCD HDTV pixelated & HD DVD Player with normal dvd discs?
I have just bought a new 42″ LG LCD HDTV. You can read the specifications of my tv on this webpage.

But like most I’ve read, the screen was terribly pixelated. Unfortunately, my country, Singapore’s cable tv is still not ready with their HD version of cable box.
But is there a way to temporarily view my tv with better quality? I’ve read that HDMI cable would work better with the normal RCA ones. Is that right? Though the back of my tv has got a DIV/HDMI input port, but the rest of my devices only has those normal RCA/S-Video/Components outputs. Is there a way round this?
My next question goes about HD DVD Players. Considering my LCD tv is still pixelated, will a HD DVD Player give smooth high quality video when viewing normal dvd/vcd discs? Or will it only play high quality video for only HD dvd discs?
In order of picture quality, the best connectors are HDMI, component (red/green/blue jacks), S-video, composite (yellow jack), RF. So use the connectors available that will provide you the capability to get the best video image.
By the same token, your video quality will only be as good as the source, so if all you’re getting is pixelated standard TV signals, that’s the best you’re going to get no matter what cabling you use.
Plugging in an HD DVD player on your HDTV using your HDMI connector and playing HD DVDs will produce the best images. The HD DVD players on the market right now also have upconversion capabilities, so your standard DVDs will look pretty good on your HDTV, definitely better than using a player that doesn’t upconvert.
