HDMI Splitter: Split and Distribute HDMI Signals Simultaneously
The HDMI Splitter is a hardware device that allows you to split and distribute a single HDMI video signal to multiple HDMI video display units simultaneously. In other words, from sources such as set-top boxes, DVD players, D-VHS players and other HDTV devices, the HDMI video signals are replicated and distributed to multiple HDMI video display units. HDMI Splitter is available in various sizes ranging from 2, 4 and 8 ports. In order to form a larger distribution configuration of replicating and displaying HDMI video on many HDMI displays, multiple splitter units could be daisy chained or cascaded. The resolutions that the splitter supports are 720i, 720p, 1080i and 1080p.
Some of the various advantages of these splitters are that they support HDCP compliant devices and work on simple plug and play functionality; also they use only a single cable to transmit video and sound while connecting the devices with HDMI output to the HDTV display. Since HDMI integrates both the video and sound signals onto a single cable, bulky VGA and audio cables can be avoided, thereby increasing space and reducing clutter.
