Apartment Decoration for Teens?
I am 18 years old, and I live with my fiancé in an apartment for now. All we have is a couch, chair, end tables, coffee tables, entertainment stand & tv. I have a few frames on the entertainment center but nothing wow! I need some wall decorations, lamps, table decorations (just something small) maybe some rugs. Everywhere I look is an older style than what im looking for. Now, im not doing the bright colors like the normal teen, because this is my home, not some kids bedroom. I want a young look but not tacky. Our colors are, hunter green, black, brown & silver. The walls are white and so bare and huge, i need something! HELP!
Take the time to look in second hand shops and thrift stores such as the GoodWill, the Salvation Army and flea markets. These places have so many things that will appeal to you. When you shop there, keep in mind that you can transform anything with a can of spray paint. I have found awesome frames and lamp bases at these places. I look at the lines and the shape and see past the finish because a can of spray paint is all you need to bring new life into an old item.
For the bare walls, you can find some really cool fabric and staple it onto a canvas frame and then use that same fabric to make a couple pillows for the couch.
You may be interested in shopping at Ikea.com. They have much of the style you seem to be after. Also, Overstock.com has lots of inventory to decorate your home with.
