I’m buying a 50 – 52 inch LCD TV. I am seeing the prices for a 1080p almost double the cost of a 720p set. Is it really worth an extra grand to get the 1080?

also, any other features that you should make sure you get?
I don’t have a PS3 OR XBOX but I do have a PS2 and a Wii. I also have FIOS digital cable and a DVD player.

or do u recommend the playstation 3??

Damaged 52 inch Sharp Aquos LCD panel. Fixable?

I just busted my buddies 52 inch Sharp Aquos (lc-52d64u) LCD panel. A result of way too many beers and an intense game of Nintendo Wii Bowling. I replaced his tv with a new one and am now a proud owner of a gorgeous 52 inch tv (when it’s turned off). The exterior is fine, but the lcd panel is damaged internally. It still turns on but there are some vertical lines coming down the left hand side and a spider web crack toward the top. Is it worth fixing, and Where can I find a replacement lcd panel?

What is the best brand for a 1080P LCD TV around 46-52 inches between 1000and 1300?

Right now on reputable sites there are Sonys, LG’s, Toshibas, Magnavox and a Samsung at the very upper end of that range (BJs.com) …. I have a feeling Magnavox is crap..but a 47 inch 1080P can be had at Target for about $900 after 10% off for opening a credit card before I then pay it off in cash at the service desk.
Thanks

Please keep in mind.. I understand at this price range and size..that 60HZ is the norm. I am going for size.
I am using the TV for broadcasts and movies mostly. I have not looked at any 720 sets. There is a 46inch Samsung at bjs. for about 1170 shipped.
An LG 1080P at Tigerdirect for about 1100 shipped.. Those are the two I am really Eyeballing more recently.

As I understand it,plasma has a limited lifetime.. Longevity is not good.. correct?
