The LG U880 is lauded by the company as a Super Slim 3G Music Phone, but as flattering as that description is it doesn’t do the device justice. Measuring in at only 18. 2 millimeters thin, the clamshell style phone is far from anorexic when it comes to the features it has to offer. Plus, users will be delighted to find that friends and onlookers will be envious of the sleek and shiny all silver exterior.

As for the LG U880’s music features, it does way more than just play music. With a 75 megabyte internal memory to hold everything in, the phone supports MP3 and the higher quality AAC files, as well as WAV and MPEG 4 video formats as well. Videos can be taken with the phone or downloaded from a computer and shown on the massive 2. 0 inch, 262,000 color TFT LCD internal display. The external display isn’t anything to snub, either. It features a 1. 17 inch 65,000 color TFT screen that can show pictures in amazing detail.

Besides featuring a killer video and music player, the U880 also has an amazing UMTX/GSM radio that can be heard over a powerful 3D surround stereo speaker. Since the phone has both a USB outlet and a TransFlash external memory, storing and saving all types of media files are a breeze. Also, the internal antenna is notoriously difficult to break, making this phone as durable as it is fun to play with.

For users who hate always having to hold the phone when they talk, the LG U880’s BlueTooth technology will come in handy. Perfect for long conference calls to the office, the U880 also can send web based emails so that the owner is never out of reach or away from any action. All in all, this is a fantastic all around phone, no matter what potential buyers are looking for.

52″ LCD Sony XBR9 KDL-52XBR9 Review 2009/2010

Here is a quick overview of all the great features this LCD has. I wish I could somehow show the picture quality better.

A Review of Toshiba’s Qosmio Laptop

Toshiba’s Qosmio laptop is the first laptop to expertly blend personal computing and audiovisual capabilities. It offers access to a TV, TV recording and DVD functionality without even having to boot the computer. This integration is a first in the world of PCs.

This particular Toshiba laptop includes three models in the Qosmio E10 series, featuring screen sizes from 15 inch to 17 inch. Toshiba designed the Qosmio based on the concept that customers not only like to enjoy their content at home but on the go also. With this in mind, they included a TV tuner that can be configured for use with NTSC, PAL or SECAM. The laptop also includes high-grade image reproduction and exceptional sound quality.

For the Qosmio, Toshiba developed a technology that combines a total of 11 image processing technologies for a wide range of image sources, including TV and DVD. It also includes a video enhancer for producing top-notch images in the Windows environment.

Image quality is further enhanced by the display on this Toshiba laptop. The “High-luminance Clear SuperView LCD” achieves a degree of brightness that is comparable to an LCD TV. This is accomplished by the integration of the two backlights and dual filter coatings that reduce the diffusion of internal light and the reflection of ambient light. The result is a super clear, high contrast image.

But what is the use of great image without great sound to accompany the picture? Toshiba solves this dilemma expertly. The Qosmio laptop includes two 2W 30mm diameter Harman Kardon speakers, the largest speakers ever integrated into a laptop computer. The result is sound like you have never heard, without the aid of a woofer.

This Toshiba laptop strived for ease of use and versatility. Therefore, its “QosmioPlayer” and “QosmioUI” control software allows quick access to TV, CDs or DVDs, without even having to boot Windows. To top it all off, the Qosmio supports recording to an integrated HDD.

If you are looking for a quality computing environment with extensive multimedia performance, the Toshiba Qosmio laptop will be hard to beat. It features the best of both worlds by seamlessly integrating computing and audiovisual technologies.

Yet Another Samsung LN52B750 Review

Yet Another Samsung LN52B750 ReviewThe 52-inch Samsung LN52B750 is the latest LCD HDTV from Samsung’s 7 series. The A650 HDTVs from last year were some of the most impressive we have seen, so the new Samsung B750 series models should be even more impressive. The Samsung LN52B750 is the largest HDTV from the Samsung B750 series at 52-inches, and brings with it a whole lot of style and features. It features Samsung’s popular Touch of Color design, and is available with either the Charcoal Grey or Red finishes. A Full HD / 1080p LCD panel for the highest HD format. The LCD panel in the Samsung LN52B750 has a Full HD / 1080p resolution for the highest HD format, and features a very high 150,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio which provides bright whites and deep blacks. The very latest Auto Motion Plus 240 Hz technology is also featured, which drastically helps to eliminate motion blur and judder during fast motion and panning scenes. Cnet reviewed the Samsung LN52B750 and gave it a great four out of five rating, and also awarded it with a power saver award for it’s impressive energy saving features. They said it reproduces deep blacks, with accurate color and commendable picture uniformity, along with impressive Yahoo Widget technology and network streaming. The good: Reproduces deep black levels; accurate color, commendable picture uniformity for an LCD; very good dejudder processing; extensive feature set with Yahoo Widgets, network streaming and built-in content; solid connectivity with four HDMI and one PC input. The bad: Somewhat expensive; benefits of 240Hz difficult to discern; dark areas tinged bluer; shiny screen can cause reflections in bright rooms; no S-Video inputs. The bottom line: The Samsung LNB750 series can’t beat the picture quality of the best plasmas and LED-based LCDs, but for a conventional LCD, it’s one of the best we’ve tested. Got this from Amazon at a good price, though I’m sure it will drop a little more as the year goes on. This tv is spectacular! Absolutely stunning, jaw dropping picture. I can’t say enough about it. Excellent blacks, infinitely tweakable to your liking. When I first turned it on I had the “The Office” come on and I swear my mouth stayed open for a few minutes as it looked like Michael was in the same room as me! Lots of inputs and features to this set, internet connectivity,DLNA,home networking, wonderful subdued TOC which is grey instead of the red on last years 750. Very high gloss bezel, crystal neck stand which pivots. Screen is glossy, reflections are not an issue for me as I tend to watch in a darker room, but even with the drapes open, I don’t see myself! AMP seems to work better in this set,as I also have an 4071 Samsung which has a slight problem with AMP,which has been well documented over at the AVSForums. Just like anything else it is not perfect, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Sound is bad. I mean, you’ll want to hook this up to a nice stereo system,or at the very least,a couple of powered computer speakers or some such set. This tv attracts dust like nobodies business. Either that or my house is really dirty. Front panel controls (which would be rarely used anyway) are hard to tell where they are (lower right). Yahoo widgets, which are kind of cool when you first see them, are eh,no big deal. Maybe as more become available I’d be more excited. There is no printed manual,it’s on a usb drive, called an e-manual,and no it’s not Spanish! There’s some uneven lighting when screen is dark,(no signal)not sure if that’s an issue for me yet, doesn’t seem to affect any picture quality, but something to keep an eye on. It is a 5 star tv,but the sound is what drops it 1. All other issues are no big deal. Amazon delivery was good,no issues. Overall,I am extremely happy with it! Now,for a good blu-ray player!

Canon Selphy Cp740 Review

The digital age has altered forever the way we take and view photos, not least because of the speed at which the final image can be produced and then passed on to other media. Professional photographers can have their pictures on the front page of a newspaper within minutes and holiday snaps can be swapped with friends only seconds after they’re shot.

Canon’s SELPHY CP range has been designed with this ‘instant gratification’ principle in mind and the latest model – the entry-level CP740 reviewed here – has just been released as updated versions of the CP720. It is designed to be ‘party printer’ that is light, compact, chic and easy to use, whilst still managing to produce high quality, economy-size snaps without having to go through a PC.

The basic CP740 unit weighs a mere 940g and its 179. 0 x 127. 1 x 63. 0mm dimensions are smaller than a tiny loaf of bread. Its Apple-like creamy colour is clearly designed to complement your Mac and iPod and the expanded 2. 0-inch LCD screen sits squarely in the middle of the top panel. Surrounding it is a range of buttons that control mode, layout, display and date, as well as an innovative and welcome auto-Red-Eye Correction via simple, self-explanatory icons.

The front panel contains four memory card slots that can deal with virtually any of the current versions of CF, SD, MMC, Memory Stick and xD. In addition, a discreet panel on the front-left hides an extendable USB cable that can be attached to PictBridge-enabled cameras or Canon Direct Print devices.

Unfortunately, the downside of this beautiful looking machine is the clunky method by which the phot tray is inserted in the front: a fair amount of huffing and puffing is needed to slot it in correctly. However, once in place you have five sizes to choose from (Postcard, Wide, L, Credit Card and Mini Stickers) and you can view each image full-screen before you print.

Print costs are reasonable at around 20p per postcard size photo using the larger photo pack Kp-108iP, the smaller KP-36iP is really only suitable if you plan to print very infrequently.

What is impressive is the quality of the finished image. Each print takes four passes to complete and it’s fascinating to see the sharpness and clarity gradually emerge (postcards take about a minute), with the final pass adding a high-gloss protective layer that protects from splashes, spills and fingerprints. The CP740 uses 300dpi dye-sublimation printing technology that leaves images virtually grain-free, as each printed dot has up to 256 intensity levels per colour.

If you’re feeling a little more flush with money, its big brother the more expensive CP750 has extra features like ‘My Colors’ photo effects (which include Black & White and Sepia), an optional battery pack and IrSimple compatiblity for infra-red printing from mobile devices. Both models have improved skin tone reproduction for enhanced flesh tones.

The SELPHY CP740 is light, compact, easy to use and cool, but its outstanding picture quality is slightly marred by the awkward loading process every time you’re preparing your photos, however that should not detract from the fact that for just over £60 you can be the proud owner of your very own portable photo lab.

Alan Wilson has over 10 years experience in the imaging industry and is currently a director of Cartridge Concept supplying consumables for all SELPHYprinters.

Review Of O2XDA Atom Mobile

work and huddled around to watch excitedly as the wrapping was torn off and we opened the box to review it!The Atom Life enters the Indian market as part of 02’s new strategy to divide its five main product segments: performance, lifestyle, messaging, hybrids, and smartphones. The products in each segment have feature sets appropriate for their target market. This device fits into the lifestyle category with its good looks and multimedia capabilities. Speaking at its launch in Mumbai recently, 02 Asia Pacific and the Middle East CEO, Mark Billington, stated that the Atom Life is a PDA that will power the user both at work and play. We decided to put this claim to test. Packed with Features The 02 XDA Atom Life is a tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 phone with GPRS and EDGE capabilities. The built-in Wi-Fi functionality makes it an excellent device to check e-mail on the go. GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation is not built in, but it’s possible to add an external receiver. The Atom Life is 3G capable-the front-mounted VGA camera makes video calling simplistic In-call voice reception is nice and dean. The Atom Life runs on Windows Mobile 5, so mobile versions of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel are included. These applications ens that your work won’t suffer no matter where you are. Other preinstalled applications include 02 AutoConfig, 02 Autolnstall, 02 Connect, 02 MediaPlus. 02 SMSPIus, and 02 PhonePlus, which make the phone economically strong. 02 Connect offers access to software updates via a GPRS connection, while 02 MediaPlus allows you to access all your stored music, videos, and photos from a single interface. You can use PocketMSN to access your Hotmail account and chat with your contacts through MSN Messenger. The Internet Explorer makes browsing the web a breeze. There’s also a mobile version of Windows Media Player 10. And to round off the package, there is Microsoft ActiveSync to connect the Atom Life to your PC. The Atom Life is powered by an Irte XScale PXA 270 processor running at a mind-blowing 624 MHz. We were impressed by the capabilities of this processor, which was able to multitask and run heavy applications without am hiccups. It features 64 MB RAM and 1GB of internal flash memory. A MiniSD card slot for expanding the memory is located on the top of the phone. Camera The 2 megapixel camera takes decent pictures with resolutions ranging from 80×60 to 1600×1200. An LED strobe flash and a self-portrait mirror are also built in. Shaping the Masterpiece At first glance, the Atom Life looks like any other 02 model, but look closely and you’ll see a few subtle differences. The device’s glossy black plastic screen is the in-call speaker grille, which also houses status lights-green for standby, red for charging, and blue to show that Bluetooth is switched on. Volume controls are on the left, and the camera and record buttons are on the right. Keys on the front panel include call accept and reject controls, two soft and media player shortcut keys. The Atom Life weighs 145 grams which is quite light for a PDA. Its slick form makes it a true style statement. Chinks in the Shining Armour 02 markets the Atom Life as a PDA that doubles up as a multimedia device. Even though it has SRS-WOW surround speakers, the volume levels could have been higher. The glossy black plastic finish is prone to fingerprints and smudges, and the chrome plating- especially around the stylus holder slot-wears out easily with heavy use. The 2. 7-inch LCD screen might look good at first, but it isn’t the clearest we have seen. Team this up with terrible viewing angles and you have real disappointment on your hands. The quality of still and video photography is also below average. Verdict The 02 Xda Atom Life is a brilliant device, and a great solution for all your business and multimedia needs. There’s a chance that you might find it a little confusing to handle initially but once you get the hang of it, organizing your daily schedules and carrying out vital daily tasks will become very convenient. Also, the enhanced multimedia functions make the Atom Life a pleasure to work with. The elegant shape ensures that you are carrying a guaranteed style statement in your pocket. As the maufacturers said-the Xda Atom Life surely does power you at work and play!
