Regardless of what one’s favorite viewing pleasure is – the quality of the Television Screen makes all the difference. TV’s come in a variety of sizes from 13 inches to the big screen wall mount plasma screens. And the technology is growing all the time making TVs Internet ready and high definition TV formats. Screens are monitors and displays that are used to view information on laptops or desktop PCs, mobile computer accessories, digital cameras, etc.
Big TV screens are trendy today with the facility to place them anywhere within a room on the floor, its walls, or suspended from the ceiling. They can be just two inches thick and several feet wide, giving you the genuine cinematic experience while watching it. There is no need to make it to a movie theater with one of those huge projector screens in your home.
Screens – Variety in technology and its applications
The variety of technologies that monitors and displays come in is quite large and each has its own merits and demerits. The most common are the CRT or cathode ray tube, then the LCD or liquid crystal display, and the plasma display panel. LCD screens are mostly used in computers, the personal digital assistant, cell phones, TV screens etc. LCDs are slowly replacing the CRT screens, though these continue to be popular in homes, because of their cost and reliability. LCDs are energy efficient and low radiation.
Most personal computers, Televisions and other applications use flat panel displays since they are thin, light and don’t consume much power. Flat panel screens can be liquid crystal displays or plasma screens. A flat panel display device can be a liquid crystal display device, a plasma display device, or an electro luminescence device. ELDs display great color clarity and brightness with low operating voltage.
Size Matters
Generally, the larger the screen size, the more feature packed the set. For instance, the 13-inch TV is quite basic on features. But that does not necessarily mean that bigger is better picture. Picture quality relates to what is being watched and in what format it is being transmitted analog or digital signal.
While making a buying decision about which screen to buy, size is an important consideration. Depending on room size, size of screen needs to be decided. TV screens also come in a variety of shapes the conventional TV is the square shape. The integration of a digital receiver has given rise to the wide screen experience that is rectangular in shape. While wide screens are costlier than the conventional square, they are terrific for a viewer who regularly watches DVD movies. You also need to find out what inputs you need when you buy your TV. You might need a DVD player or satellite receiver as a video source. Also consider the size of screen your room can fit into it. Researching and comparing feature by feature can be quite mind-boggling and one display may look more attractive than another in terms of picture resolution, light output, and sound quality, etc. but it is a great idea to shop around and visit the audio visual retailers in your area it can be an educative experience and cost saving as well.

With the introduction of superior quality HDTVs like the Samsung LN52B750, going out to movies will be a rare event for some individuals or families. When you consider the high price of going out to movies, the head ache of finding a parking place, and the hyper inflated price of snacks and soft drinks, people are not having a hard time dropping over a $1000 on a big screen TV. Some folks have even gone to the extreme and turned the family den or office into the entertainment room with plush couches, surround sound, old fashioned pop corn popper. Some even have a marble slabbed soda fountain counter for the after the movie ice cream float! This is living leisure at it’s best. The LN52B750 HDTV 52″ big screen is what I call “Monster Screen TV”, that gives the user the most lifelike LCD HDTV action on the market today. This is almost as large as real person. When you add up all the high tech features such as progressive scanning and an incredible 1920p x 1080p resolution, this device performs magic on the million of pixels as they form recombine on the generous sized wide screen display. Most of the incredible technological improvements are the result of Samsung’s Product Marketing Team that surged ahead to bring the end user the best HDTV. Read on to see why the LN52B750 is an impressive player is the crowded big screen LCD TV market. In fact, there are few players in this league with features as good as Samsung’s. Have you ever surfed the web on a 52″ LCD screen? With the LN52B750 you can access on-line content from Yahoo! This is accomplished through the technology of “Medi@2. 0″ that lets you enjoy “Internet@TV” for streaming live content via Yahoo! While it’s not a fully functioning PC, you will be impressed to view the latest on-line head line news, stock reports, business reports, and breaking news all from the comfort of your favorite chair. With Samsung’s powerful Auto Motion Plus 240Hz technology, experience a new level of near life-like LCD action. The LN52B750 comes jammed with gigabytes of content that offers hours of the best in digital entertainment and information, from video games to Pilate’s routines. Samsung engineered an award winner with this HDTV. Cnet gave LN52B750 four out of five stars rating, and also awarded it with a power saver award for it’s environmentally sound energy saving features. Experts say it reproduces rich black colors that emulate the darkest espresso! LN52B750 series has the most beautiful image quality, with jet dark black. I like to think of it as the dark chocolate of blacks. For those into geeky terms like color temperature, you will find that it is spot on accurate. Another caveat is that Samsung offers users manuals on their website in PDF. With all such impressive features and more, the LN52B750 is the choice for the stay at home movie crowd. Never face a huge crowd again. Forget cattle crowded movie theater seating. Sit back on your own plush couch and watch the best HDTV ever. Don’t forget the popcorn!

As well as looking good on or off, they’re also better for viewing digital channels (you don’t need a digital box), or terrestrial channels (which will be turned off from next year as the digital switchover commences). And then there’s the picture quality, which experts say is far superior to the old CRT telly. With high definition technology, the screen delivers an image with more depth and less ‘visual noise’. This allows you to sit closer without your eyes straining.
Add to this the fact that LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs have lower power consumption and a wider viewing angle, and you viewing experience has just gone from pre-historic to space age. Ready to slim down?
Get with the programme
There are two main categories of flat screens – plasma or LCD. On the eco-side, LCD screens use less power than plasma, but if it’s a larger, brighter ‘cinema’ style screen you’re after, opt for plasma (they range from about 42 to 100 inches).
Size matters
Flat screens are real attention-grabbers. Great if you want to make it a feature, but not if you prefer more discreet appliances, or have a snugger living space (or bedroom/kitchen). For smaller models, John Kempner from John Lewis recommends Grundig. ‘Their new range of 15″ & 19″ models each have an integrated DVD player: excellent value with prices starting from

We have a 52″ RCA HDTV and in the bottom right hand side there is a three inch tall and seven inch wide area where the screen had done something and has faded to black and shows a little bit of the color through, but it’s mostly black. Does anyone know what it is and if it can be fixed?
