White Coax Cable
My cable jack broke. I can’t work the RF modulator to fix it. Help?!?

So basically, I have a 50 inch LCD Television. Over the weekend, someone tripped on my cable (coax, basic cable) and it ripped the jack out of the back. I can ONLY use basic cable so getting DirectTV or something is out of the question. To repair it, my estimates are in the Hundreds. So, I went to best Buy and they gave me a RF Modulator. As far as I can tell, I am suppose to plug a coax cable into the wall and then into the modulator. Then run the Red/yellow/white cables into a video input on my TV. However, that isn’t working. Am I doing this wrong? Do I have any other options besides buying a new TV/getting it repaired?
You need a set-top box. An old VCR with and old tuner and composite video out will also do the job.
Some converter boxes may have a QAM (cable tuner) as well.
